Gogebic County, located in the Upper Peninsula, is in the northwestern-most part of the state. Gogebic County has about 16,400 residents. It was once part of the territory owned by the Lake Superior Chippewa. Now, it contains the Lac Vieux Indian Reservation. The county was established in 1887. Both Lake Superior and Lake Gogebic are in its borders.
