Charlevoix is home to about 26,000 people. Initially, it was organized under the name of “Keskkauko County.” However, it was renamed in the 1860s. The seat of Charlevoix County is the city of Charlevoix. The county lies in the northwestern part of Michigan, and its total area is 70% water.
